Paris and Isle of Wight trip

June 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I have been visiting places last month and as I said in my last post, I’m here with my account of the Paris trip. What I think is Europe is truly a beautiful place and it has a lot to offer. By visiting 2 or 3 places I can’t boast of seeing the entire Europe, but still Paris is a place of significance. It is rightly said

“An artist has no home in Europe except in Paris”.Arc de Triumphe

Paris is an artistic, romantic city, is known to all and how can I deny the fact….after visiting the city. Actually, you will always feel shortage of time in Paris if you are a visitor and don’t want to miss anything. There are lots and lots and lots of places and streets and monuments and what not ….worth watching…The Eiffel

I was fortunate to get a chance to visit the city and and just like every other visitor, was amazed by the charm and air. What Paris has to do with Love, you can find in the qoutation by an English painter John Berger:

Every city has a sex and an age which have nothing to do with demography. Rome is feminine. So is Odessa. London is a teenager, an urchin, and, in this, hasn’t changed since the time of Dickens. Paris, I believe, is a man in his twenties in love with an older woman.

Paris has lot of historical, cultural and monumental landmarks of its own. Overall I liked the visit.

Last week I visited a beautiful Island in UK – the Isle of Wight. Its a real beautiful island, you can feel the freshness from the picture below.

The Alum BayThe Freshwater Bay

It was a short day trip to the island and we could visit only a part of the entire beauty that the island has to offer. But to say the least, this is a place to cool your nerves and relax after months and years of busy life that we go through. The very moment you reach Island you are refreshed and energised.

Again, this island has a history of its own like the needls park and the Alum bay.

In essence, this part of the world has been good to me and I am having good time enjoying natue and history, if not the culture.. For I have to say, I’m missing my home land and its food :)

Having said these and being an Indian…to quote Will Durrant – an American writer:

India was the mother of our race and Sanskrit the mother of Europe’s languages. She was the mother of our philosophy, mother through the Arabs, of much of our mathematics, mother through Buddha, of the ideals embodied in Christianity, mother through village communities of self-government and democracy. Mother India is in many ways the mother of us all.

Hope to come back with much more.

Thanks for reading.
