Be the change you want….Live life King size…..

I’m back to blogging ways after 19 months and 2 unfinished blogs in between. This year, I want to make things better myself, want to live my life the way I want and take time out for things that I want to do and one of those things is blogging. I still do not know the reason for not getting time to do so……..

Also, the 2 unfinished blogs that I have mentioned will surely be finished, but since they are more like my tribute to someone I look up to…it may take time. One of them is about my grandfather who has been my idol and I want to write something about him. The second one is about my break last year from busy schedule to attend a friend’s wedding. It was so refreshing that I do not want to forget.

This weekend has been very fruitful for me. I returned to indiblogger.in to have a look at what’s the news there and found so many new and nice things. Came to know about Bangalore Meet and read some good blogs from Bangalore’s bloggers. One of theirs blog – Raghavendra Satish inspired me a lot. Also lot of others like Mohan are informative enough to get me back to sharing ways. J A very big Thank you guys for all the information, discussions and keep rocking.

One of the posts from Raghav is just mind-blowing (at least it blew my mind away and I owe this write up to this post). Incidentally this is his first blog of 2010 and mine too. I’m quoting the entire thing below from his post.

62 things we should follow to make our life a success. Follow it this year.

1. Remember that leadership isn’t about your position. It’s about your
influence.

2. Get fit like a pro athlete.

3. Lift people up versus tearing people down.

4. Protect your good name. An impeccable reputation takes a lifetime to
build. And 60 seconds to lose.

5. Surround yourself with positive, ethical people who are committed to
excellence.

6. Remember that even a 1% daily innovation rate amounts to at least a 100%
rate of innovation in 100 days.

7. Believe in your dreams (even when others laugh at them).

8. Measure your success, not by your net worth but by your self worth (and
how happy you feel).

9. Take an intelligent risk every 24 hours. No try-No Win.

10. Read “Buffett: The Making of an American
Capitalist”.<http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=9PYXl&m=1dUW.LnsJmibp5&b=4yAMHtJk2KhkUpNh_37vLw>

11. Watch “Man on
Wire”.<http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=9PYXl&m=1dUW.LnsJmibp5&b=CItdzXbblUmaM8dHREzgIA>

12. Regardless of your title at work, be a team builder.

13. Remember that business is all about relationships and human connections.

14. Say “please” more.

15. Say “thank you” more.

16. Know your Big 5: the five things that need to happen by the end of this
year for you to feel its been your best year yet.

17. Read your Big 5 every morning while the rest of the world is asleep.

18. Read “As You Think”. At least twice this year.
<http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=9PYXl&m=1dUW.LnsJmibp5&b=LZNRRwp1Tn.FlUwlTIHGiA>

19. Be willing to fail. It’s the price of greatness.

20. Focus less on making money and more on creating value.

21. Spend less, save more.

22. Leave everything you touch better than you found it.

23. Be the most positive person in every room you’re in.

24. Run your own race.

24. Stay true to your deepest values and best ideals.

25. Write a handwritten thank you note to a customer/friend/loved one every
day.

26. When you travel, send love letters to your kids on hotel stationary. In
time, they’ll have a rich collection to remember your travels by.

27. Read “Atlas
Shrugged”.<http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=9PYXl&m=1dUW.LnsJmibp5&b=ITvO3ptFFVsmuZSHvDABNg>

28. Be a problem solver versus a trouble maker.

29. Rather than doing many things at mediocrity do just a few things-but at
mastery.

30. Honor your parents.

31. Commit to doing great work-whether anyone notices it or not. It’s one of
life’s best sources of happiness.

32. Give more than you receive (another of the truths of happiness).

33. Have your 1/3/5/10/25 years goals recorded on paper and review them
weekly.

34. Be patient. Slow and steady wins the race. The only reason businesses
that went from zero to a billion in a year or two get featured in magazines
is because 99% of businesses require a lot more time to win.

34. Under promise and then over deliver.

35. See part of your job as “a developer of people” (whether you work in the
boardroom or the mailroom).

36. Wear your heart on your sleeve. When people see you’re real, they’ll
fall in love with you.

37. Be authentic and not plastic.

38. Read “The Alchemist”.<http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=9PYXl&m=1dUW.LnsJmibp5&b=SZ20lCXU48vufjkRWuBgog>

39. Remember that life wants you to win. So get out of your own way.

40. Consider that behind every fear lives your next level of growth (and
power).

41. Eat less food.

42. Drink more water.

43. Rest when you need to.

44. Read “SUCCESS” magazine.
<http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=9PYXl&m=1dUW.LnsJmibp5&b=k3tGSuUo6erGfT1inAKr2Q>

45. Write your eulogy and then live your life backwards.

46. Demand the best from yourself.

47. Remember that the more you go to your limits, the more your limits will
expand.

48. See everything that happens to you as an opportunity to grow (and
therefore, as a precious gift).

49. Be obsessed with learning and self-development.

50. Become comfortable alone (you are the only person you get to be with
your whole life).

51. Smile. It’s a stunningly effective way to win in business and life.

52. Reflect on the shortness of life.

53. Be bold when it comes to your dreams but gentle with those you love.

54. Remember that success is dangerous because it can kill
drive/innovation/passion and going the extra mile. Be successful yet stay
hungry.

55. Read “The Autobiography of Benjamin
Franklin”.<http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=9PYXl&m=1dUW.LnsJmibp5&b=Ms1cx8GAuWgUZbVhcbFYbw>
56. Be of deep value to this world.

57. Own beautiful things but don’t let them own you.

58. Use excellent words.

59. Laugh more.

60. Don’t complain, gossip or be negative.

61. Plan as if you’ll live forever but live as if you’ll die tomorrow.

62. Feel free to pass these lessons on to those you want to help.

Thank you for reading this and please feel free to write a word or two to me, I look forward to feedbacks to be able to improve myself as much as I can. Keep rocking (I say this very often so please bear with me :) ).

Hope to continue this in 2010 and make this start a big journey. last lines this evening -

Kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahaan nahin miltaa….

Hi,

Of late I’ve become more of poem loving person….a bit of sayarana..u know :) …and here I come with some of my favorite ones…To start with

Kabhi kisi ko mukammal jahaan nahin miltaa
Kahin zameen to kahin aasmaan nahin miltaa
Jise bhi dekhiye wo apne aapmai gum hai
Zubaan mili hain magar humzubaan nahin miltaa
Bujhaa saka hain bhala kaun wakt ke shole
Ye aisi aag hain jis mein dhuaan nahin miltaa
Tere jahaan main aisa nahin ke pyaar na ho
Jahaa ummeed ho is ki wahaa nahin miltaa

….

Gam is Kadar Mila Ghabra Ke Pi Gaye,
Khushi Thodi Si Mili Mila Ke Pi Gaye,
Yu to Hum Pine Ke Aadi Nahi the,
Sharab Ko Tanha Dekha to Taras Kha Ke Pi Gaye.!

….

Dil agar phool na hokar kaanch ka tukda hota
Todne wale ko ek zakham to aaya hota

Jitna dostana paya hai aapse, Usse bhi zayada pane ko jee chahta hai
Jane kon si khoobi hai aap mein k zindagi bhar dosti nibhane ko jee chahta hai

….

har aahat ehsaas hamara dilay gi
har hawa kissa hamara sunay gi
hum itni yadain basa dain gai aapke dil main
na chahtay huwai bhi yad hamari aaie gi

….

Sirf Itna Hi Kaha Hai, Pyaar Hai Tum se
Jazbaton Ki Koi Numayish Nahin Ki
Pyaar Ke Badle Sirf Pyaar Manga Hai
Rishte Ki To Koi Guzarish Nahin Ki
Chaho To Bhula Dena Humein Dil Se
Sada Yaad Rakhney Ki Sifarish Nahin Ki
Khamoshi Se Toofan Seh Letey Hai Jo
Un Baadlon Ne Izhar Ki Baarish Nahin Ki
Tumein Hi Mana Hai Rehnuma Apna
Aur to kisi Cheez Ki Khwahish Nahin ki….

….

Is dil ka kaha maano ek kaam kar do,
Ek be-naam si mohabbat mere naam kar do,

Meri par faqat itna ehsan kar do,
Kisi din subha ko milo aur shaam kar do

Pagli Ladki…….

There are times when you think you need to do something about the thoughts coming to your mind……but then you have to wait for the right time to come…….

We can’t just keep on pushing things for future and do nothing in the present. if you have to get something, you need to go for it….

This month has been a bit of uncertain for me….nothing is very clear as to what is in store for the future….but as always, I’m hoping for the best…

 To quote unknown

“When things go wrong as they sometimes will
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill.
When funds are low and the debts are high.
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns.
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out:

Don’t give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.

And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems so far:
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit
It’s when things seem worst that you must not QUIT”

Sure, we must not quit for we have nothing to lose in life….

I may sound a bit boring tonight….but bear with me…these are the words I don’t speak more often…

June is coming to end and to summarise the month I have to put down this very beautiful creation of Dr. Kumar Viswas:

“Amawas ki kaali raaton me
dil ka darwaja khulta hai
jab dard ki pyali raato me
gum aansu ke sang ghulta hai
jab pichwaare ke kamre me
hum nipat akele hote hain
akele hote hain
jab ghariyan tik tik chalti hain
sab sote hain hum rote hain
jab baar baar dohraane se
saari yaaden chubh jaati hain
jab unch neech samjhaane me
maathe ki nas dukh jaati hain
tab ek pagli larki ke bin
jeena gaddari lagta hai
aur us pagli larki ke bin
marna bhi bhaari lagta hai…………..”

and one more from the same poet

“mai jab bhi tej chalta hun, najaare chut jaate hain
koi jab rup garhta hun to saanse tut jaate hain….
main rota hun to aakar log kandha thapthapate hai
main hansta hun to mujhse log aksar ruth jaate hain”

I really like his way of expression…he is beautifully poised in his words…

May we get to hear more of his creations..

Well, this is all for tonight…

I’ll see you later.

Paris and Isle of Wight trip

I have been visiting places last month and as I said in my last post, I’m here with my account of the Paris trip. What I think is Europe is truly a beautiful place and it has a lot to offer. By visiting 2 or 3 places I can’t boast of seeing the entire Europe, but still Paris is a place of significance. It is rightly said

“An artist has no home in Europe except in Paris”.Arc de Triumphe

Paris is an artistic, romantic city, is known to all and how can I deny the fact….after visiting the city. Actually, you will always feel shortage of time in Paris if you are a visitor and don’t want to miss anything. There are lots and lots and lots of places and streets and monuments and what not ….worth watching…The Eiffel

I was fortunate to get a chance to visit the city and and just like every other visitor, was amazed by the charm and air. What Paris has to do with Love, you can find in the qoutation by an English painter John Berger:

Every city has a sex and an age which have nothing to do with demography. Rome is feminine. So is Odessa. London is a teenager, an urchin, and, in this, hasn’t changed since the time of Dickens. Paris, I believe, is a man in his twenties in love with an older woman.

Paris has lot of historical, cultural and monumental landmarks of its own. Overall I liked the visit.

Last week I visited a beautiful Island in UK – the Isle of Wight. Its a real beautiful island, you can feel the freshness from the picture below.

The Alum BayThe Freshwater Bay

It was a short day trip to the island and we could visit only a part of the entire beauty that the island has to offer. But to say the least, this is a place to cool your nerves and relax after months and years of busy life that we go through. The very moment you reach Island you are refreshed and energised.

Again, this island has a history of its own like the needls park and the Alum bay.

In essence, this part of the world has been good to me and I am having good time enjoying natue and history, if not the culture.. For I have to say, I’m missing my home land and its food :)

Having said these and being an Indian…to quote Will Durrant – an American writer:

India was the mother of our race and Sanskrit the mother of Europe‘s languages. She was the mother of our philosophy, mother through the Arabs, of much of our mathematics, mother through Buddha, of the ideals embodied in Christianity, mother through village communities of self-government and democracy. Mother India is in many ways the mother of us all.

Hope to come back with much more.

Thanks for reading.

My First Month at UK

Its been more than 20 days since I arrived at UK and its been a happening month for me.

The first week was more of introduction at office, getting used to the environment, conditions and yes also preparing for the much awaited Paris trip that was planned for me even before I reached here :) .

I had get my schengen Visa done, so I visited the French embassy in in London in the first week itself as I got an appointment for Friday 11.30 AM. The day was more of embassy stuff and I finally got through the entire process and was free at 4PM.

As it was my first visit to london, I had planned to meet my childhood friend Abhishek and spend some time with him sightseeing but unfortunately could’nt do so as he was busy and I did’nt inform him earlier. Not a good news for me.

Still, I managed to roam around the South Kensington Underground station to feel the air of London. I returned to London Victoria station at 5:30 and caught a train to Worthing (my base at UK) only to reach worthing by 7:30 pm.

That was my first trip to London. Next opportunity came pretty soon, when 3 of us (office colleagues) planned to visit London on Monday as it was a Bank Holiday. That was a good trip for me as I got to see lot of London.

Link to some of the pics from london is here

Next friday we had to leave for Paris. It was a great experience. Hopefully I will be able to detail the entire experience in my next post.

Till then keep reading.

I’ll leave you with some lines from a poem of a Hindi poet

Koi diwana kehta hai, koi pagal samajhta hai
Koi diwana kehta hai, koi pagal samajhta hai
Maga dharti ki bechaini ko bas badal samajhta hai
Main tujhse dur kaisa hun tu mujhse dur kaisi hai
Ye tera dil samajhta hai….ya mera dil samajhta hai…….

Mohabbat ek ehsaason ki paawan si kahaani hai
Mohabbat ek ehsaason ki paawan si kahaani hai
Kabhi kabira diwaana tha kabhi Meera diwaani hai
Yahan sablog kehte hain meri aankhon me aansoo hai
Jo tu samjhe to moti hai…jo na samjhe to paani hai….

Samandar pir ka andar hai lekin ro nahi sakta
Samandar pir ka andar hai lekin ro nahi sakta
ye aansoo pyar ka moti hai isko kho nahi sakta
Meri chaht ko apna tu bana lena magar sun le
Jo mera ho nahi paaya wo tera ho nahi sakta

Bhramar koi kumudni par machal baitha to hungama
hamaare dil me koi khwaab pal baitha to hungaama
abhi tak doob kar sunte the sab kissa mohabbat ka
Main kisse ko haqiqat me badal baitha to hungama.

Main jahan rahoon….Main kahin bhi hoon…

Its ultimate, I’ve heard it n number of times today…and this happened gradually….its not that I was feeling alone or something…but still it seemed the song is meant for me….each and every line has its relation to me….just listen to the song and you’ll know….

Main Jahaan Rahoon
Main Kahin Bhi Hoon
Teri Yaad Saaath Hai – 2

Kisi Se Kahoon
Ke Nahi Kahoon
Yeh Jo Dil Ki Baat Hai
Kehne Ko Saath Apane Ek Duniya Chalti Hai
Per Chhupke Is Dil Mein Tanhaayi Palti Hai
Bas Yaad Saath Hai
Teri Yaad Saaath Hai – 3
Main Jahaan Rahoon
Main Kahin Bhi Hoon
Teri Yaad Saaath Hai

oof its really touching….I mean ten thousand times hats off to Javed Akhtar….he is a genious….

when we move on to the lines….

Kahin To Dil Mein Yaadon Ki
Ek Suli Gad Jaati Hai
Kahin Har Ek Tasveer Bhahut Hi Dhondhali Pad Jati Hai
Koi Nayi Duniya Ke Naye Rango Mein Khush Rehta Hai
Koi Sab Kuch Paake Bhi Yeh Mann Hi Mann Kehta Hai
Kehne Ko Saath Apane Ek Duniya Chalti Hai
Per Chhupke Is Dil Mein Tanhaayi Palti Hai
Bas Yaad Saath Hai
Teri Yaad Saaath Hai – 3

After a whole day of doing nothing…I decided to go on a stroll to the Worthing Seafront…..I went alone as my flatmate was busy and I did’nt want to disturb him…

Its a beautiful place to walk. There were lot of english guys n gals enjoying sunday evening, but I was on my own….each line of the song was being played in my mind…..I kept walking for 2 hours…

The second para goes …..

Kahin To Beete Kal Ki Jadein
Dil Mein Hi Utar Jaati Hai
Kahin Jo Dhage Tute To Malaayen Bhikar Jaati
Koi Dil Mein Jagah Nayi, Baaton Ke Liye Rakhta Hai
Koi Apni Palko Par Yaadon Ke Diye Rakhta Hai
Kehne Ko Saath Apane Ek Duniya Chalti Hai
Per Chhupke Is Dil Mein Tanhaayi Palti Hai
Bas Yaad Saath Hai
Teri Yaad Saaath Hai – 3

I really love ………………….

Well Worthing is a cool place to be…but only if ……………
Will come back with more from Worthing….

Hats Off to Team India!!! & the Mumbai Marathon

This weekend was really happening and I enjoyed each moment being a proud Indian. At first our cricket team has hoisted Indian flag at the heart of Australian territory and proved that we should never be taken for granted and that we Indians are history makers. What a spectacular Test Cricket was at display, for none other than most of Cricket greats who witnessed the history being made were speechless at Indian cricket team’s unconquerable stint starting day 1 of the third test at WACA, Perth. This was really one of the greatest test wins in the history of Indian cricket.

A true display of teamwork, dedication and application in the 3 and 3/4 days of play by our youthful and matured cricket team. Full of young energy of Ishant Sharma, Dhoni, Sehwag, Jaffer and at the same time experience of Sachin, Sourav, Dravid, Lakshman and the leader Kumble. I personally feel this was the greatest test win ever just for the simple reason that it was played and one at WACA, Perth and against the best cricket team in the world at his own ground. Hats off to Kumble and his team and their cricketing brilliance.

To talk about individual performances that led to the making of history, my favourite, Irfan Pathan was the true Man of the Match. He has shown great improvement and is evolving as an outstanding thinking swing bowler rightly said by Steve Waugh. What makes Pathan more useful player is his batting ability. He has shown time and again that he very rarely misses batting opportunities. He has shown that he is a perfect all-rounder in this test match.

Not to miss the ever-green contribution from our Very Very Special Lakshman. He is a beauty to watch. I wish I could see him batting more often.

Overall a great test match and that too after 2 Test losses at the start of the series, and with Umpiring at their worst at the 2nd Test and to put salt on the fresh wound, the Harbhajan row, Indians have bounced back in style and not only answered but slapped all the questions from their opponents. I’m happier to say that Aussies were on the verge of making a world record second time and our team has stopped their winning spree both the teams.

All the best to our team for the Adelaide test and CHAK DE INDIA!!!!!

Sunday morning was even more thought provoking and enjoying the thought of being an Indian when the first news I heard was of the Mumbai Marathon. I hope I was in Mumbai and was a part of the Marathon. It’s really great to see the spirit of the city.

I always admired the comeback of Mumbaikars from any disaster and the way they face emergency situations. They are the true reflection of unity in diversity.

Watching the Marathon I thought what a way to contribute to the society!!! Rahul Bose’s ‘The Foundation’ was supported by stars like Shabana Azmi, and there was Tina Ambani’s ‘Harmony’ for the senior citizens. There were so many causes for the society and every one was doing their bit or rather trying to do something for their cause. Be it Mumbai Police running for the very cause of mixing with the people and to be a part of common man in the city, or some people for their spread of awareness towards the environment, it was all sensational and indeed they all succeeded in their cause. At least they have made one person aware, ME JJ.

It gave me another reason to celebrate being Indian.

Again CHAK DE INDIA !!!

Cricket in Australia – Its a Joke :)

This is actually from my mail, I liked the idea

After watching the test match, I feel some rules have to be incorporated by ICC to give the other teams a perfect clarification

(1)    Ricky Ponting – (THE TRULY GENUINE CRICKETER WHOSE INTEGRITY SHOULD NOT BE DOUBTED) should be considered as the FOURTH UMPIRE. As per the new rules, FOURTH UMPIRE decision is final and will over ride any decisions taken by any other umpires. ON-FIELD umpires can seek the assistance of RICKY PONTING even if he is not on the field. This rule is to be made, so that every team should understand the importance of the FOURTH UMPIRE.

(2)    While AUSTRALIAN TEAM is bowling, If the ball flies anywhere close to the AUSTRALIAN FIELDER (WITHIN 5 metre distance), the batsman is to be considered OUT irrelevant of whether the catch was taken cleanly or grassed. Any decision for further clarification should be seeked from the FOURTH UMPIRE. This is made to ensure that the cricket is played with SPORTIVE SPIRIT by all the teams.

(3)    While BATTING, AUSTRALIAN players will wait for the ON-FIELD UMPIRE decisions only (even if the catch goes to the FIFTH SLIP as the ball might not have touched the bat). Each AUSTRALIAN batsman has to be out FOUR TIMES (minimum) before he can return to the pavilion. In case of THE CRICKETER WITH INTEGRITY, this can be higher.

(4)    UMPIRES should consider a huge bonus if an AUSTRALIAN player scores a century. Any wrong decisions can be ignored as they will be paid huge bonus and will receive the backing of the AUSTRALIAN team and board.

(5)    All AUSTRALIAN players are eligible to keep commenting about all players on the field and the OPPONENT TEAM should never comment as they will be spoiling the spirit of the AUSTRALIAN team. Any comments made in any other language are to be considered as RACIALISM only.

(6)    MATCH REFREE decisions will be taken purely on the AUSTRALIAN TEAM advices only. Player views from the other teams decisions will not be considered for hearing. MATCH REFREES are to be given huge bonus if this rule is implemented.

(7)    NO VISITING TEAM should plan to win in AUSTRALIA. This is to ensure that the sportive spirit of CRICKET is maintained.

(8)    THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE: If any bowler gets RICKY PONTING – “THE UNDISPUTED CRICKETER WITH INTEGTIRY IN THE GAME OF CRICKET” more than twice in a series, he will be banned for the REST OF THE SERIES. This is to ensure that the best batsman/Captain will be played to break records and create history in the game of CRICKET.

These rules will clarify better to the all the teams VISITING AUSTRALIA.

I hope Ricky reads this :) :)

More on Ricky at this column by an australian writer.
